Airport Safety After Bin Laden's Death

By Erika Ayala

Terrorists will never stop to attack the United States due to the 'silent' and holy war they both have. Al Qaeda, a global militant Islamic group founded by Osama Bin Laden, is known for causing severe damages to the United States like the September 11 bombings. Due to that, every country that are allies of the US became more strict and alert in fighting against terrorism. They continue to impose tight security rules to protect their country and their citizens. In line with that, the hunt for Osama Bin Laden became a challenge to kill the root of all evil doings of Al Qaeda.

Last May 2, 2011, President Obama proclaimed to the public the death of Osama Bin Laden. It was one of the biggest news that made the majority rejoice and celebrate. Unfortunately, many analysts have been telling US and its allies that the security of the countries are more in danger now. Osama Bin Laden may have died, but its offspring and people aren't yet. The word 'revenge' may have occurred due to this historical event.

With that, the first place where extreme tight security must be strictly imposed should be the airport. Obviously, it is where anyone would use as a means of entering one's territory. Airport terminal safety should be given the attention by leaders and logistics people. Going back to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the airport became complacent and loose with their security that's why these Al Qaeda suicide bombers were able to get in the plane and bombs were brought with them. As we all saw, that was the start of the rise of bomb sniffing dogs, checking of bags whenever you enter commercial places and block the bringing of liquid items in hand-carry bags.

We don't want these scenarios to repeat, killing innocent lives and damaging hearts of families affected. So in order to protect our lives, our communities, our loved ones, our beloved country, airport terminal safety must be on the highlight of our attention. After formulating ideas and theories, action steps should be next in line. Putting all brilliant ideas into practice. In this way, the people would not live in fear and be able to have strong trust and hopes on the government.

This is more than world war. Religion is a strong word that keeps the Al Qaeda on fire, living what jihad has told them to do. For those of you who doesn't know jihad, it is an Islamic term for “holy war”. To make it easier to comprehend, this is one of the strong roots why Al Qaeda is firm and determined to fight Christian communities. They believe that fighting injustice and solving the problems of religion is through defending the Muslims.

For Christians, all we can do now is pray for wisdom in order to know what to do to protect our lives as well. The “holy war” will not stop as long as there are Muslims and they believe in what they call jihad. We are not safe despite the death of Bin Laden. He may have died, but the Koran is still alive. The teachings of their Koran can always influence anyone to become the next Osama Bin Laden.
