An Impatient Kid
By Erika Ayala
This story was told to me by my best friend. On a Friday night, Aaron, a naughty and impatient 8 year-old boy, saw a commercial about a famous theme park in Florida, United States. Aaron was enticed by the commercial, which led him to rushing to his mother. He told his mom about the theme park and wanted to go there immediately. Aaron said, “Mom, you need to bring me to that theme park as soon as possible”, with a demanding voice. Aaron's mom replied, “We will go there on your birthday sweetie”. Then Aaron was whining, insisting that they go there as soon as possible. So Aaron's mom couldn't do anything but to grant Aaron's request. She searched for a way to go to the theme park, bought them tickets and entered the most-awaited theme park. In the theme park, Aaron was astonished and overwhelmed with all the rides he could see. In every area his eyes landed on, he never failed to smile because of all the attractive sights in the park. The first ride he tried was the carousel. With his mom, they enjoyed riding the carousel, transferring from one horse to another. They only rode the carousel once because he was bored. For boys, they obviously need adventure. So after riding the carousel, Aaron rushed to the mini roller coaster, which is designed for children. In that ride, he couldn't stop screaming as the coaster gave him the thrilling ride he was looking for. After that roller coaster ride, he decided to try the bump car. Aaron was fond of cars ever since he was an infant. One toy that makes him smile are cars. So when he tried the bump car, he felt like a big boy. However, a huge accident happened while he was driving. He literally bumped himself, not against the other cars but against the wall. The impact was really strong that it hurt him so much. He couldn't move his body at that point. It was a feeling of paralysis for a little boy like him. Due to that accident, Aaron's mom filed a case against the theme park. He found out that the ride was not for little boys. There was supposed to be a height requirement and if the child didn't reach the height requirement, a guardian must accompany the child. However, the crew didn't strictly impose that rule, especially that day. Right after the accident, Aaron's mom rushed to a motel nearby and stayed there with Aaron. That's where they waited for the doctor who took care of Aaron and lawyer who fixed the case she filed against the theme park. To make the story shorter, everything was resolved. Aaron just got a sprain and the theme park paid for all the expenses. They know that it was their fault anyway. As a lesson learned in this situation, mothers know best. If Aaron didn't force to go to the theme park on that day, that accident could have avoided. If only Aaron waited for his birthday, for the right time. The main point here is to be patient and be obedient. Those who wait and obey are always rewarded. |
