The Aftermath
By Erika Ayala
Where will you go after you die? Is there such thing as heaven and hell? These are questions of curiosity that cannot be answered by simply depending on philosophy. In case you are not aware, there is eternal life. And in that eternal life, it proves that there is heaven and hell. If you are confused and curious, this is the right time to read this article and understand what the bible says about salvation or where we would go after we die. For your information, God loves you. Whoever you are, no matter what you did in your past, whatever mistakes you committed, God loves you and He cares for you. His desire is to have an eternal life with you. But you have the free will to choose if you want to accept the “free gift” he is giving you. In John 3:16, it says that “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have an eternal life”. It is very clear in the holy bible what our destination is if only we receive Jesus in our lives. Also, aside from having an eternal life, God desires for you to have an abundant and meaningful life. On the other hand, most of you may not be experiencing that kind of abundant and meaningful life because of SIN. Everyone, including me and you, has a sin problem that separates us from God. In “Romans 3:23, For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. With that said, the penalty of sin is death. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”. The bible pertains to two kinds of death, physical and spiritual, or eternal separation from God. Revelation 21:8 says that, “But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the Second Death”. Now you may think there is no solution because all of us are sinners. The fact that we lie already makes us a sinner. A single sin equals to separation from God. But you should know that our God is a gracious, merciful and forgiving God. He loves us so much that He wouldn't allow us to suffer despite our shortcomings. Jesus is the only solution to that dilemma. He is the only way to enter God's kingdom. In John 14:6, Jesus tells us, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me.” The cross symbolizes Jesus' death and resurrection for us. He already died for our sins, “our” means all of us. Even though we weren't born on Jesus' time, He already told died for all our sins to save us from going to hell. Jesus proves that He is powerful because He didn't just die but was resurrected and rose from the dead. He promises eternal life to us and the only thing we can do now is to accept Him as our Lord and savior. Isn't that so easy? “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die..”, that's according to John 11:25-26. However, knowing and accepting is not enough. We should do our part by putting our faith and complete trust in Jesus. God doesn't want to make our lives miserable. As our gratitude for the free gift of God, we should at least prove the sincerity of our faith by turning away from the life of sin. God does not expect us to be sinless and perfect. What He expects from us is to show sincerity and love to Him. If you love someone, you would want to know and spend time with the person right? The same principle applies here. God wants us to love Him by including Him in our priorities. A simple gesture of reading the bible and going to church could be the first few acts you can do to glorify Him. You may find this article very straightforward. As a living testimony, I saw how God transformed my life and how He is currently working. His blessings are countless. If you want to be blessed and have a meaningful life, avoid the burning fire of hell and enjoy the riches of heaven, then you should really accept Jesus in your life.
